My Projects (Click on the picture to open a larger image.)
"Clarissa" 10/02/12:
This is my friend Clarissa. I chose to draw her because she is really pretty and I like her very much. First I was afraid that she wouldn't be that pretty anymore if I drew her but it turned out pretty good actually. We had to do a Scribble Drawing and I like drawing messy, so i created the picture with a random scribble pattern. I like how her eyes and her hair turned out. I don't like her teeth very much, they look a bit to big. But it was fun to make it and I'm proud of it.
"Alcohol Abuse" 11/08/12:
For this project we had to choose an issue and cut out words and articles for that issue. I chose 'alcohol abuse'. I chose it because it's a pretty sad and grave matter and I tried to show that with the colors I used. We had to use colors which are next to each other on the colorwheel. I liked working with the acrylpaint, because it's more opaque than watercolors. But i didn't like mixing the colors which eachother, because they didn't turn out like i wanted them to. Anyway the picture is pretty good I think. It shows the right mood and message.
Hallway Drawing 11/26/12
For this project we had to use a One Point Perspective. We sat in the hallway and tried to draw what we saw. I drew the hallway to the commence. I didn't really like this project, because I don't like to draw so tidy and straight. It also bothered me a lot because it was so smeary and it was hard to get rid of the lines what was one of our goals. I still like how it turned out at the end though.
"Ice Skaters" 12/19/12:
For this project we had to choose three analogous colors from the colorwheel. Then we splashed, dripped and pured the color, mixed with water, on our paper. As soon as the watercolor was dry, we had to use our imagination to pull out shapes. I saw to ice-skating girls in it. We were instructed to put values in with a pen to make our projects stand out. It was fun and I like it.
"Rapunzel's Castle" 01/12/13:
To create this project we had to use a 2 or 3 point perspective. I chose the 3 point perspective to challenge myself. The destructions also told us to draw 5 buildings. I drew a castle with 5 towers which are symmetric to eachother. In the center you can see Rapunzel out of the window. In the foreground are some plants. It's supposed to be from the view from a person who looks through the plants and sees the castle. The plants and Rapunzel are colored and I like the way how it turned out. I didn't really like to draw it though, because it was tiring to draw the wall.
Still Life Drawing 22/12/12:
This was our final project for the first semester. We practiced a couple new skills and had to use them for this project. There were a few objects on the table in the middle of the art room. We could pick a spot around it and had to draw what we saw. Also we had to make sure to get rid of lines with putting values in and that everything is proportional. I'm really satisfied how my picture turned out. It looks realistic and that was my goal. This picture really shows that my skills have improved, and I am proud of that.
"Magic" 02/26/13
For this project we chose an inspirational word with at least 5 letters. I chose the word "MAGIC". Every letter had to be an icon of something.
My word is made out of the icons of "Monster Energy", "Apple", "Google", "Information" and "Phone Call". We used markers to color them what was fun. It turned out really nice and interesting.

"Watercolor Candy" 03/14/13
This project was a watercolor painting of candy wrappers. We had to bring our candy wrappers to class and sketch them as we saw them with pencil. Then we used watercolor to color it. I used blue for the background because I thought it would be a good contrast to the red of the candy wrappers. It was hard to paint all the details with the brush, but at the end it turned out pretty good.
"Azariah" 03/18/13
This was a little preparation for our printmaking. We got a scratch board and were supposed to scratch an animal or creature in it. We had to show a lot of texture and it was a good practice because you had to scratch out the light values instead of shading the dark ones like usually. I think my fairy turned out pretty cool, it was fun to make it too.
"The warmth of a fathers love" 03/22/13
This was our first printmaking project. We had to choose a picture related to "Live, Life and Love" and I found a really cute picture of a father holding the hand of his baby. After we transferred our picture onto the linoleum we were able to carve it out with the special carving tools. The challenging thing was that everything you carve away was going to be white on the print, so we had to think different for this. It was also really exciting because before we printed it you didn't know how it
s going to turn out. We had to make 6 different prints:
-a normal black on white print
-a black on white print colored with colored pencils
-a black print on a watercolor wash
-a black on white print with tissue paper
-a black on white print adding two materials of your choice
-a white on black print
Then we had to give it a title and sign it. I really like how all of them turned out, it was neat that you can remake your picture all over again in a short amount of time. That is a big advantage of printmaking.

"A drop in the ocean" 04/23/13
This was our Acrylic painting. We were supposed to choose a song we like, to print out the lyrics and then think of a picture in which we could put the lyrics. I chose the song "A drop in the ocean" of Ron Pope, it is one of my favorite songs and I really like the lyrics. I really liked working with Acrylic paint and using all these different colors and shades was pretty challenging but fun. It turned out really cool and I think I'm going to frame it.
2 in 1 woven project 05/17/13
For this project we had to choose two different pictures and weave them together. I chose a picture of me and my cousin and a landscape of Vietnam because we went on vacation there together. We used pencil for this drawing and I thought it was a little painful because pencil is so smeary. It turned out really cool anyways and I'm proud of it.
"Butterfly" 05/28/13
This is a mosaic made out of broken glass pieces. I really like how it turned out, it looks really nice.
"Family Portrait" 06/09/13
This is a family portrait of me and my hostfamily. I gave it to them as a good bye present. I put a lot of effort in it and I think it turned out pretty well.
